Do You Still Have Your Dream

Today, April 4th 2025, I was trying to get some ideas for my business startup while checking on the website – Ascend Now.

I intend to see what they have on their website and want to learn much from them, as I understand founder Devi Sahny has successfully founded this company and is doing very well with her business.

It prompts me to review my current website, Onlinebusinessfor50, and see what I have missed and where I can improve. I noticed that her company website has a page “Get Started”, which I also have on mine. This page will allow visitors to sign up and learn more about the services/products the website owner offers.

When I read through my “Get Started” page, I saw the motivational video spoken by Denzel Washington, about having your dream and setting up your goal to achieve it. It ignites my aspiration to realize my dream -> setting up my own business, before those ghosts come and question me during my dying time.

What a nice moment to fire me up to work on my dream NOW!

When we were young, dreams came easily. We wanted to be astronauts, artists, singers, entrepreneurs — to travel the world, build something meaningful, or simply live life on our terms.

But somewhere along the way, life happened. Responsibilities took over. We got busy raising families, building careers, paying mortgages. Dreams quietly stepped aside, replaced by daily routines and expectations.

Now, here you are — 50, 60, or beyond — and a question bubbles up again, perhaps more loudly than ever:

Or has it been buried beneath the years, silenced by self-doubt or fear, waiting patiently for you to remember it again?

The Truth About Aging: It’s Not the End — It’s a New Chapter

Many people believe that once they hit 50, it’s too late to chase dreams. Society often tells us that youth is the season for ambition and the later years are for settling down, slowing down, or fading into the background. But I challenge that idea.

50 is not the end — it’s a fresh chapter filled with potential.

With age comes wisdom, resilience, and clarity. You’ve lived through enough to know what matters. You’ve made mistakes, survived setbacks, and gained skills. Now, you’re better equipped than ever to pursue what truly sets your heart on fire.

Many successful people didn’t even start chasing their big dreams until later in life.

  • Colonel Sanders founded KFC at 65.
  • Grandma Moses started painting in her 70s.
  • Vera Wang entered the fashion industry at 40.
  • Ray Kroc turned McDonald’s into a global brand in his 50s.

If they could do it, why not you?

What’s Holding You Back

Let’s be honest — pursuing a dream later in life isn’t easy. You may be facing doubts like:

  • “I’m too old to start now.”
But what if you live another 30 or 40 years? That’s not the end — that’s a lifetime!
  • “I don’t have the energy or time.”
But maybe you don’t need to hustle like you’re 25. What you need is purpose. That gives you energy.
  • “I missed my chance.”
No. The only real missed chance is the one you refuse to take now.

Fear, comfort zones, or even other people’s opinions can be huge roadblocks. But ask yourself — what’s the bigger risk: failing, or never trying and always wondering “what if”?

Regret Is Heavier Than Failure

Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse, spent years caring for people in their final days. She recorded the top regrets of the dying. The most common?

“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

Let that sink in.

People don’t regret failing. They regret not trying. They regret not speaking up, not being bold, not chasing what really mattered to them.

So ask yourself: Do you want to be someone who lives with regret, or someone who still dares to dream?

It’s Not Too Late to Dream — and to Act

Dreams don’t have an expiration date. They evolve, sure — maybe your dream of being a rock star at 20 becomes a dream of learning the guitar now. Maybe your passion for helping others becomes a coaching business, or your love for storytelling becomes a blog, a book, or a podcast.

In today’s digital world, the barriers to entry are lower than ever.

You can:

  • Start an online business from home
  • Teach or consult based on your life experience
  • Write and self-publish a book
  • Open a small online shop selling crafts or vintage finds
  • Create a YouTube channel, even if it’s just to share your journey
  • Launch a blog and build a community

What matters is not the size of the dream, but the courage to take the first step.

Your Experience is Your Superpower

You’ve lived. That’s your edge.

You’ve solved problems, overcome challenges, and learned what works — and what doesn’t. You know how to stick with things. You have stories, scars, insights, and resilience. Younger people are still figuring that out — but you, you’ve earned your wisdom.

If you start an online business today, you’re not starting from zero. You’re starting from experience.

Don’t underestimate the value of your voice, your skills, your story.

Someone out there needs what only you can offer.

But What If You Fail

Let me ask you something — what if you don’t?

And even if you do fail, so what?

You’ll grow. You’ll learn. You’ll feel alive.

At this stage in life, the goal isn’t to “get rich quick” or “go viral.” It’s to live with purpose, joy, and freedom. It’s about doing something that excites you when you wake up in the morning. Something that makes you feel useful, connected, and fulfilled.

If you fall down, get back up. Laugh about it. Keep going.

Take the First Step

So what can you do today to reconnect with your dream?

Here are a few simple steps:

  1. Reflect on your old dreams.
What did you want to do when you were younger? What still excites you?
  2. Write it down.
Don’t just think it. Write it. This gives it life.
  3. Break it into small actions.
Start researching, join a group, take a course, and talk to someone in that field.
  4. Set one goal this month.
Maybe it’s starting a blog, creating a business plan, or making your first YouTube video.
  5. Surround yourself with believers.
Join communities of people also chasing dreams in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. The right support is everything.

You’re Not Alone

I created Online Business for 50 for people just like you. People who still dream. People who know that life isn’t over — in fact, it might just be starting to get good.

This platform is about more than business. It’s about freedom. It’s about doing something meaningful. It’s about refusing to settle.

I’ve seen too many people “retire” and slowly fade away — not because they’re not capable, but because they’ve stopped dreaming.

Don’t let that happen to you.

Let’s Dream Together

Let this be your reminder:

  • It’s never too late.
  • Your dreams still matter.
  • You don’t need permission.
  • You don’t need to “have it all figured out.”
  • You just need to start.

So ask yourself today — “Do I still have my dream?”

And if the answer is yes, even a whisper — follow it.

Because the only thing worse than failing is dying with your dream still inside you.

You still have time. You still have breath. You still have potential.

Use it. Honor it.

Because dreaming is great — but doing is even better.

Let’s go do it together.
